KPN and Delft University of Technology will work together on new ICT technologies

Telecom and ICT service provider KPN and Delft University of Technology are entering into a strategic partnership to develop high-end new technology in the field of 5G, blockchain and artificial intelligence. Under the name of NExTWORKx the two parties are responding to exponential and disruptive technologies of the future and aim to contribute to the continuing development of talent.

"Thanks to the partnership with KPN researchers, PhD students and undergraduates of Delft University of Technology will get the opportunity in their research to develop high-end new technology in a rapidly changing landscape and to test it in practical situations,” says Tim van der Hagen, president of the board and rector of Delft University of Technology. "Intensive collaboration and interaction with an institution of the international standing of Delft University of Technology gives us great opportunities to strengthen each another,” adds Joost Farwerck, COO and member of the Board of Management of KPN. "It means we can focus even more specifically on developing new technologies that make our customers’ lives freer, easier and more fun.”

The partnership with KPN and Delft University of Technology under the name of NExTWORKx has been ratified by the two parties and starts this year with six PhD research projects at Delft University of Technology. As well as this partnership with Delft University of Technology KPN has partnerships with other universities, such as Flagship Telecom with Eindhoven University of Technology that was announced last year.
